The European Investment Bank confirms 200 million Euro long-term loan to State Bank of India to support Indian large scale solar projects

The European Investment Bank today confirmed new support for solar power generation in India in partnership with the State Bank of India. The EUR 200 million (INR1,400 Crores) long-term loan will support total investment of EUR 650 million in five different large-scale photo-voltaic solar power projects and contribute to India’s National Solar mission and reduce dependence on fossil fuel power generation. Four schemes across the country, with a generation capacity of 530 MWac, have already been identified.

ADFD gave a USD 44.5 million funding to Renewable Energy projects in Marshall Islands, Niger, Seychelles and Solomon Islands

Hybrid Wind Solar Policy to Strengthen Energy Security of India

The Government of India has formulated draft National Wind-Solar Hybrid Policy with the objective to provide a framework for promotion of large grid connected wind-solar PV system for optimal and efficient utilization of transmission infrastructure and land, reducing the variability in renewable power generation and thus achieving better grid stability. Further, the Policy aims to encourage new technologies, methods and way-outs involving combined operation of wind and solar PV plants.

33,029.39 Gigawatt-hour Wind Power and 7,447.92 Gigawatt-hour Solar Power Generated in India During 2015-16

Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines today informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply that as per information received from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), the quantum of electricity generated during 2015-16 through Wind and Solar sources was 33029.39 MU (Gigawatt-hour) and 7447.92 MU (Gigawatt-hour) respectively. He further said that during last two years i.e. 2014-15 and 2015-16, a total capacity of 5735 MW and 4131 MW have been installed for wind and solar energy respectively.

India is making available Credit to Food Parks and Food Processing units including Rice Mills

The Government of India has been taking steps to increase flow of credit to Food Processing Industries including Rice Mills. A special fund of Rupees Two Thousand Crore (320 million USD) has been created by NABARD for making available credit to designated Food Parks and the Food Processing units setup therein including Rice Mills. Food Processing has been notified as Agriculture activity for the purpose of priority sector lending for the Food and Agro based processing units / projects subject to aggregate sanctioning limit of Rs. 100 Crore (16 million USD) per borrower.

India Launches Scheme for setting up 1 GW Central Transmission Utility connected Wind Power Project

The Government of India has set an ambitious target of achieving 175 GW power capacity from renewable energy resources by 2022 and out of this 60 GW has to come from wind power. The Scheme will be implemented for setting up 1000 MW capacity of CTU connected Wind Power Projects by Wind Project Developers on build, own and operate basis. However, the capacity may go higher than 1000 MW, if there is higher demand from Discoms of non-windy states.
